How to Configure BBB-Teensy Multisensor Kits

BBB Set-Up:

Teensy Set-Up:

Current Cape Set-Up:

Please refer to the Teensy Reference and the IoT Teensy BBB Cape Reference for help.
  • The three current sensors should have their signal inputs put into the J2 terminal ports 23, 22, and 21 as they already have current rectifying circuitry connected to them. These current sensors will be read directly by the Teensy and are already wired to do so.
  • The temperature sensor should be read by the BBB instead of the Teensy, so solder the appropriate resistors on the underside of the cape so that the J2 terminal port that the temperature sensor’s signal is connected to is wired directly to one of the BBB pins. Since the temperature sensor is an analog sensor, the signal input should be connected to one of the J2 terminal ports (14 to 20).
  • The accelerometer should be read by the Teensy so the signal input should be connected to one of the J2 terminal ports (14 to 20). Solder the appropriate resistors on the underside of the cape so that the J2 terminal port that the accelerometer’s signal is connected to is wired directly to one of the Teensy ADC inputs.
  • Using the Teensy and cape reference from above, solder the appropriate resistors so that the UART4 serial port of the BBB is connected to another serial port on the Teensy. The receive pin of the BBB serial port should be connected to the transmit pin of the Teensy serial port and the transmit pin of the BBB serial port should be connected to the receive pin of the Teensy serial port. This can be accomplished by soldering the appropriate resistors so that the receive and transmit pins of both serial ports are wired to ports on the J1 terminal. The receive and transmit pins can then be jumped together via the J1 terminal ports.
